John D. Wolfe was born and raised on the Lower East Side of New York.

Following a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division he returned to New York and attended classes at the Art Students League of New York.

Upon graduation he moved upstate to the town of New Paltz where he has maintained his studio.

Publications that have featured his artwork include Harper's Magazine; The New York Times; War, Literature and the Arts; and Fiction International. He has exhibited in galleries, universities and museums throughout the United States.
