About the Artist

John D. Wolfe was born on the lower East Side of Manhattan. Following a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne he returned to New York and attended classes at The Art Students League of New York. Upon graduation he moved upstate to the town of New Paltz where he has maintained his studio. He has exhibited in galleries, universities and museums throughout the United States.

Books that have featured his work include When War Becomes Personal: An Anthology published by University of Iowa Press (2008), A Different War: Vietnam in Art by Lucy Lippard, The Total Baseball Catalo: Unique Baseball Stuff and How to Buy It by David Pietrusxa, Out From The Shadows published by New Jersey Council for the Humanities, and Prisoners of Culture by Elliot Gruner.

Publications that have featured his artwork include Harper's Magazine, The New York Times, War Literature and the Arts, Fiction International, The Total Baseball Catalog and A Different War by Lucy Lippard.

 

 

A war memoir by John Wolfe will be included in an anthology being published by University of Iowa Press in 2008.
